2007-08 (Junior):

Canty came out strong in his third year with Pacific, swimming four different relay events and various individual freestyle races. He comes back for the 2008-09 season as a promising leader, after having shattered nearly all of his season bests in the Big West Championships as a junior. On Feb. 20, Justin and his relay team came in second place behind UC Santa Barbara in the 800 Free Relay with a time of 6:42.73 and third in the 200 Medley Relay with a 1:30.31 race. Individually he also set season highs during the Big West Championships in the 200 Free (1:42.45) and 50 Free (21.41), which topped all Pacific swimmers in the event. At the conclusion of the season, Canty earned Academic All-Big West honors for performing well in both the pool and in the classroom.

2006-07 (Sophomore):

Justin offered the Tigers a plethora of options as a sophomore. Canty participated in all types of freestyle events, from sprint (100), to mid-range (200 and 500), as well as the distance events (1000 and 1650). Canty's best times in the 100, 200, 500 and 1650 Free came at the Texas A&M Invitational. Justin finished with times of 47.23 in the 100 Free, 1:41.10 in the 200 Free, 4:32.54 in the 500 Free and 15:44.87 in the 1650 Free.

2005-06 (Freshman):

In his first year with the Tigers, Justin recorded season-best times in the 200 Free (1:43.99), the 500 Free (4:34.16) and the 1650 Free (16:02.87) at the Big West Championship meet. Throughout the year he also competed in the 1000 Free and the 200 Back.

High School:

Canty attended West Hills High School in Santee, Calif., where he lettered four times in swimming and three in water polo. Canty earned All-Grossmont North Conference honors in swimming all four years, as well as All-CIF honors his junior and senior seasons. During his senior campaign he also earned All-American honors in the 200 and 500 Free. He was the salutatorian of his high school class, boasting a 4.6 GPA.

Personal:

Justin Canty was born in La Mesa, Calif., and is the son of Kevin and Diane Canty. Justin has two sisters, Whitney and Kaitlyn. In his free time, Justin enjoys surfing, snowboarding and wakeboarding. He is a mechanical engineering major in his fourth year at Pacific.
