Pacific Outlasts No. 13 Lewis in Five Sets

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Pacific men's volleyball team improved to 9-4 on the season with a five-set non-conference victory at No. 13 Lewis (4-4) on Friday, Feb 4. Set scores were 35-33, 24-30, 30-28, 22-30, and 20-18.

Pacific hit .400 (17-3-35) as a team in set one as the Tigers jumped out to an early lead with a 35-33 win. The teams alternated wins and losses the next three sets, forcing a decisive fifth set.

In the fifth set, Pacific's offensive attack fired on all cylinders, pounding 15 kills with just three errors in 24 attacks (.500). The Tigers outlasted the Flyers, 20-18, in Pacific's longest fifth set since a 23-21 set five win against Stanford on Apr. 13, 1999.

Junior Brian Adamson (Arlington Heights, Ill.) pounded a career-high 20 kills for Pacific in the match. Senior Bryson Metz (Aiea, Hawaii) added 19 kills, 11 digs, and seven blocks. Senior Brad Alexander (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and freshman Simon Chen-Byerley (Northfield, Ill.) were also in double figures in kills for the Tigers with 12 and 11, respectively.

Pacific is next in action with a non-conference match against Loyola-Chicago on Saturday, Feb. 5, at 8:30 p.m. (CT) at Romeoville, Ill.
