Shorthanded Tigers fall to Loyola-Chicago, 3-1

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The No.9 Pacific men's volleyball team fell to 9-5 on the season with a 3-1 non-conference loss to Loyola-Chicago on Saturday, February 5. The win improved the Ramblers to 7-1.
Set scores for the match were: 23-30, 30-28, 23-30, 24-30
The Tigers were without their floor captain, senior Mike Gawlik (Addison, Ill.) and their two leading offensive threats, seniors Brian Zodrow (Kaneohe, Hawaii) and Nils Dauburs (Riga, Latvia) for the match. The Ramblers wasted no time taking advantage of the weakened Tigers, taking the four set win.
Pacific was able to put up a fight, taking set two as both teams hit .400 in the set. For the match, though, the Tigers were out hit .270-to-.326.

Senior Bryson Metz (Aiea, Hawaii) continued to shine for the Tigers as he nearing matched his career-high output from the night before, leading all hitters with 18 kills. Metz hit an impressive .464 on the night, making just five errors in 28 swings. Freshman Mike Gonzales (Richmond, Calif.) and junior Brian Adamson (Arlington Heights, Ill.) each posted double-figure kills finishing with 13 and 11 respectively.
The Ramblers saw four hitters reach double digits with Corey Kloos leading the way with 17 kills. Scott Green was just one behind with 16 and Chris Kozlarek and James Grunst each tallied 13 for the match.
The Tigers will next be in action on Tuesday, February 8, as they take on the California Golden Bears in an exhibition contest at the Alex G. Spanos Center. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
