Tigers Pick Up A Point With A 0-0 Draw At Cal Poly
Oct. 24, 2004
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The Pacific women's soccer team picked up their sixth shutout of the season and their second consecutive as they drew with Cal Poly, 0-0 (2ot), on Sunday, October 24. With the draw the Tigers pick up a point in the standings, keeping them in fourth place and in the final post-season spot, one point ahead of the Mustangs. The draw also improves their record to 7-4-6 overall and 3-1-4 in the Big West while the Mustangs move to 7-2-6 overall and 3-1-3 in conference.
The Tigers got another great performance out of sophomore Laura Guerin (Swampscott, Mass.) as she produced her second shutout of the year in her second start of the season. Guerin has yet to relinquish a goal in her three appearances, a shutout span of 245:00 minutes. In probably her toughest game yet, Guerin made nine saves on 22 Mustang shots.

Offensively, the Tigers were stifled by the Mustang's defense as they were only able to muster four shots in the game, none of which were in the overtime periods. Leading the way for the Tigers was sophomore Carmen Padilla (San Jose, Calif.) as she took three of the Tigers four shots, two of which were on net.
The Mustangs were led by Heidi McQuitty, Linae Young and Heather Bryan, all of who took three shots on the day. In goal for Cal Poly, Liz Hill recorded a shutout of her own saving two shots in 110:00 minutes of play.
The Tigers will next be in action on Friday, October 29, as they travel to Northridge, Calif. to wrap-up their Big West schedule against the Cal State Northridge Matadors. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
