Anunciation Strikes Again as Pacific Rallies Past UC Davis, 5-3
Feb. 19, 2005
STOCKTON, Calif. - Pacific senior shortstop Michelle Anunciation (Chino Hills, Calif.) continued her clutch hitting this season, blasting a three-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead the Tigers to a 5-3 non-conference victory over UC Davis on Saturday, Feb. 19, at Bill Simoni Field.
With the victory, Pacific improved to 6-1 on the season. UC Davis fell to 2-10. Game two of the scheduled doubleheader was postponed due to rain. Weather permitting, Pacific and UC Davis will play a doubleheader on Sunday Feb. 20, at noon at Bill Simoni Field
UC Davis took a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the sixth. Senior Jennifer Harrell (Stockton, Calif.) reached on an error leading off the inning for the Tigers. Following a Lizzie Hagen (Anaheim, Calif.) walk, a Crystal Presson (Livermore, Calif.) sacrifice bunt, and a fielder's choice putout, Brittany Hyams (Huntington Beach, Calif.) closed the gap to 3-2 on a two-out run-scoring single.
Anunciation then blasted her second home run of the season well over the right field fence to give the Tigers their decisive 5-3 advantage. Anunciation has recorded each of her 10 RBI this season in two-out situations.
Senior Natalie King (Huntington Beach, Calif.) picked up the win in the circle for Pacific, improving to 4-0 on the season. King allowed three earned runs on six hits while going the distance.
