March 6, 2005
STOCKTON, Calif.- The Tigers scored three of their six goals in 6-on-5's and the women's water polo team upset No. 17 Arizona State by the count of 6-4 at Chris Kjeldsen Pool on Sunday, March 6. Pacific got revenage from an early season loss to the Sun Devils on Feb. 27, while picking up its first Mountain Pacific Sports Federation win on the season. The Tigers moved to 8-6 overall and evened its MPSF record at 1-1. The Sun Devils fell to 4-8 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
Pacific carried over its excellent defense from the day before against San Diego St., by holding Arizona St. scoreless for over 12 minutes of play as freshman goalie Jocelyn Gray (Strathmore, Alberta) came up with numerous saves. Meanwhile, the Tigers got their first 6-on-5 goal with :41 seconds to go in the first quarter when freshman Kellie Fletcher (Roseville, Calif.) placed one passed the outstretched arms of goalie Jennifer Sanderson and Pacific led 1-0.

The Tigers added another 6-on-5 goal in the second quarter as junior Julia Snyder (Fresno, Calif.) netted her 14th goal of the season and Pacific went into halftime up 2-1 after the Sun Devils' Ashley Bower got Arizona State on the board.
The Sun Devils then came out of halftime showing more aggressiveness, which resulted in back-to-back goals by Raelyn Ritchie and Kimberlee Stevens, to give Arizona State a 3-2 lead.
But, the Tigers did not back down by speeding their way to two back-to-back counter goals and Pacific regained the lead at 4-3. Senior Jessica Schroeder (Newcastle, Calif.) and freshman Marla Pavik (Reno, Nev.) each tallied the goals.
Pacific tacked on two more insurance goals, one by Schroeder at the end of the game and picked up a 6-4 win.
Schroeder again paced the Tigers with two goals, while Gray finished one save away from her career-high with 12.
Sanderson finished with six saves and four different players scored for Arizona State.
Pacific now hits the road as they travel to USC for a MPSF game on Thursday, March 10.
