Tigers Finish Fourth at Sacramento State Invitational

Sacramento, Calif. - With the help of twelfth and fourteenth place finishes by juniors Micaela Klaus (Peru, NY) and Meghan Mullen (South San Francisco, Calif.), the Pacific cross country team finished in fourth place overall at the Sacramento State Invitational held in Sacramento, Calif. on Sept. 15.
Klaus and Mullen finished within seconds of each other in the meet allowing only opponent in between them at the finish line. Klaus was first to cross the line with a time of 19:24, while Mullen was right on her heals, covering the 5K course with a final time of 19:31.
Other Tigers competing in the meet were Francesca Au (Concord, Calif.), Kristina Hammarstrom (Manteca, Calif.), and Alyssa Tejeda (Santa Monica, Calif.). Au finished in 24th place with a time of 20:55, Hammarstrom finished in 27th place with a time of 21:12, and Tejeda finished in 37th place with a time of 27:29.
Marissa McPhail from Fresno State finished first in the meet with a time of 18:27. Nevada edged Fresno State out by one point in the team standings though to take the meet's team title.
The Tigers will next be in action on Sept. 22 at the Pepperdine Invitational in Malibu, Calif. The meet will start at 9:00 a.m.
